Pictures made in Romania for the New York Times cover story, ‘The Trees Saved Me’ with words by Alan Burdick. The story explores the Forest of Immortal Stories, a project run by Foundation Conservation Carpathia to protect the ancient beech trees in the foothills of the Fagaras Mountains.

Photographs are paired with LiDAR scans of trees in the project area.
